Scott Jason Patterson

Scott Jason Patterson, age 51, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at his home in St. Ansgar. Scott was born on May 21, 1973, in Osage, Iowa, to Jerry and Sue (Zweibahmer) Patterson. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1991. Following graduation he attended Northeast Iowa Community College for autobody mechanics. Scott worked at McKinley’s in Osage as a service manager, NAPA in St. Ansgar, and owned Third Street Repair in St. Ansgar until his health failed. In October 1999, Scott was united in marriage to Shelley Rodemaker; they were blessed with one son, Xavier. The couple later divorced. Scott enjoyed mowing lawns, moving snow, attending car shows and particularly liked old cars. He also loved to go fishing with his friends. Above all, Scott loved his son, Xavier, and cherished their time spent together. They especially enjoyed car rides and checking out new spots together. We will remember Scott for his beautiful garden in his backyard and the Christmas lights he hung every year. We will love and miss him forever. 

Scott is survived by his son, Xavier Patterson, of Dickinson, North Dakota; parents, Jerry and Sue Patterson of St. Ansgar; brother, Jamie (Jill) Patterson of St. Ansgar; nephews, Dargan (Kim), Dakotah (Megan), and Dylan (Abby); five great-nieces; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and beloved dog, Punkin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Max and Mildred Patterson, and Elias and Dorothy Zweibahmer. 

The visitation for Scott will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2025, with a prayer service and sharing of memories beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Hoff Celebrations – Schroeder Chapel in St. Ansgar. A private family interment will be held in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice. Hoff Celebrations – Schroeder Chapel of St. Ansgar is assisting the family with arrangements.
