Roy Robert Miller, Jr., age 80, of Osage, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center, with his loving family by his side. A funeral Mass for Roy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday January 31, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Reverend Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Military Honors by Osage American Legion Post 278. Before the Mass there will be a Visitation held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Roy Robert Miller, Jr., the son of Roy and Arleta (Nelson) Miller, was born on November 2, 1944, in Osage. Roy graduated from Osage High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He also attended Gale Institute in Minneapolis for Engineering Drawing. On October 24, 1964, Roy was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jane Williams. Together, they were blessed to enjoy more than 60 years of faith, family, and many amazing friendships. Roy worked in auto-parts sales for 30 years. Some of his earlier jobs included working at his father-in-law’s tire shop, Goodyear, L.R. Falk Construction, and Winnebago. He volunteered with the Osage Fire Department for over 28 years, was in the first EMT class in Mitchell County, and worked on the ambulance for nearly 15 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post 278 and the Sacred Heart Council 4308 Knights of Columbus. Roy is described by his friends and family as quiet-natured, humble and selfless. He was a loving man of faith and involved in many activities to support his church and community. He was a dedicated supporter of his children and grandchildren’s many performances, sporting events, scouting and other projects throughout their time in school. Roy had a talent for woodworking and tinkering in his shop, he always looked forward to crappie fishing with his cousins in Missouri, played many card and dice games, and followed several sports. He also enjoyed TV shows and movies, especially comedies and westerns. Most of all, Roy was proud of his family and considered them to be his greatest accomplishment. Roy is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter Mindy (Jim) Henderson of Osage; son Michael (Dawn) Miller of Nora Springs; son Marshall (Angie) Miller of New London, MO; eight grandchildren: Amanda (Jason) Prevo of Bloomfield; Jeremy Henderson of Osage; Mirranda (Ryan) Bilky of Osage; Brianna Miller of Charles City; Britain Miller of Nora Springs; Jeff (Jessie) Davis of New London, MO; Jenna (Aaron) Hayes of Hannibal, MO; and Justin (Kristen) Davis of Palmyra, MO; fourteen great-grandchildren; Atalena, Mason, Kaitlyn, & Gavin Prevo; Taryn & Tucker Henderson; Klaire, Kalli, & Kayden Bilky; Sophia, Michael, & Madison Hayes; and Kallie & Kenzie Davis; Jane’s sister, Megg (Craig) Ganrude and their daughters Nicole (Jeff) Schwalbach and Makenzee (Jon) Bowman, all of Rochester, MN; one aunt Joan Miller of Casper, Wyoming; and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter. Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
