Elizabeth Amy Rogers

Elizabeth Amy (Nitardy) Rogers danced into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, December 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Chicago on November 15, 1930, to Carl and Virginia (Nelson) Nitardy. After the death of her mother, at the age of two, she was raised by her grandmother, Alice Nitardy and her father. She lived and attended school in Toeterville, Chicago and Brooklyn, New York. Her childhood summers were spent at her Uncle Rudy and Aunt Marie’s farm in St. Ansgar, Iowa with her cousins. In 1948, she graduated high school from Ipswich, Massachusetts. Elizabeth attended Boston University where she studied interior design. She met Maurice Charles Rogers in the winter of 1950 and were married on June 30, 1951. They were blessed with 13 children. Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, writing, bike riding, and coffee with her sisters-in-law. After her children were grown, she served as a missionary to India for 25 years. She is survived by her children, Lynette Kellogg, Nancy (Jim) Schacht, Kathleen (Cecil) King, Carl (Inga) Rogers, Rosemary Stuarte, Theresa (Mark) Harcey, Timothy Rogers, Joe (Deb) Rogers, Monica (Tim) Bluhm, Ruth Warrington, Ann (John) Dresselhaus, Betty (Jim Cremmins) Rogers, and Dawn Ellison; 51 grandchildren; 91 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice; her parents; four sons-in-law, Leroy Kellogg, Keith Stuarte, Douglas Warrington, and Bruce Ellison. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, Iowa. The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Toeterville.
