Janice Marie Schonrock

Janice M Comisky-Schonrock, age 83, of Osage, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Unity Point Hospital, Dubuque, Iowa. She was born on December 15, 1940, the daughter of Ray and Juanita Arickx. Janice attended school in Mitchell, Iowa, graduating from Osage High School in 1958. She graduated from Mt Mercy College in 1960. Janice met Maurice Comisky, and they were married on December 29, 1962. From this union they had four children, Colleen Tauke, Deanna Gard, James Comisky, and Jason Comisky. Maurice passed on May 29, 1999. She later met Elmer Schonrock and they were married on May 22, 2004. Janice enjoyed many things in life from working at Sacred Heart Catholic school to working in the garden to spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her. Janice is survived by her children, Colleen (Paul) Tauke of DeSoto, IA, Deanna (Jerry) Gard of Algonquin, IL, James (Kimberly) Comisky of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jason(Christy) Comisky of Ankeny, IA; 9 grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew, and Leo Tauke, Cait Schultes, Ian, Ayana, Olivia Gard, TJ Comisky, and Amanda Pitts; 10 great grandchildren, Daisy, Cora, Callahan, Marlowe, Coleman, Oliver, Jackson, Elliott, Warren, and Cami and three on the way; brother, Mark Arickx of Osage, IA; sisters-in-law, Leone Shepard of Norwalk, Dorothy “Doke” (Clarence) Kruse of Osage, Deb Arickx of Nebraska , Della (Gene) Cordle of Osage; brother-in-law, Gary “Mick” Comisky of Osage, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Ray Sr. and Juanita Arickx, in-laws, Leo and Charlotte Comisky; husbands, Maurice Comisky and Elmer Schonrock; brothers, Ray (Carol) Arickx Jr., Chuck Arickx, Donald (Wendy) Arickx Sr.; brothers-in-law, Merwin “Irish” Comisky, Harold “Hites” Comisky, Marlow (Ann), (Kay) Comisky, Gary Shepard; sisters-in-law, Mary (Melbourne) Larson, Maureen (Dean) Brooker, Kathleen (Gerald) Laker and Margaret Comisky. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. A visitation will be held Monday, November 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage, Iowa following the service. Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
