Barbara R. Lappe, age 93, of Osage, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Barbara was born on June 2, 1931, in Rockford, Illinois, to Frank and Artella (Novisky) Norvellis. She graduated from San Leandro High School in San Leandro, California in 1949. Barbara met the love of her life, Frank Lappe, and they were later married on November 20, 1950 at the St. Cecilia Church in Algona, Iowa. From this marriage they had five children: Sharon, Diane, Connie, Janice, and Carl. Barbara dedicated much of her life to supporting her family and community. As a devoted farmers wife from 1950 to 1988, she tended to the land and cared for her loved ones with unwavering love and dedication. In 1988, Barbara transitioned to a new chapter of her life, taking on a role at Fox River Mills until retiring in 1993. Throughout Barbara’s life, she found great joy in traveling and cherished spending quality time with her family. Barbara is survived by her children, Sharon (Mark) Bechtum of Fridley, MN, Diane (Wayne) Gellar of Peppin, WI, Connie Lappe of Brooklyn Park, MN, Janice (David) Bartko of Minneapolis, MN, and Carl (Debi) Lappe of Escondido, CA; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lappe, three brothers, four sisters, and her parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service on Monday. The burial will take place at the Sacred Heart Cemetery following the service. Champion Funeral Home of Osage is assisting the family with arrangements.
