Robert "Bob" F. Sherrard

Robert “Bob” Sherrard, 70, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, passed away on July 31, 2024, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Bob was born on April 2, 1954, to Robert and Dorothy (Opkis) Sherrard. He attended St. Ansgar schools and graduated with the class of 1972. A couple months after graduation, he and Jane (Beyer) went on their first date and married three years later. A few years after, they had their sons, Rob and then Ross. On July 12, 2024, they celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Bob’s first passion in life, besides his family, was his love of farming. From an early age, Bob could be found in IH tractors on his family farm. When he wasn’t working on the farm, you could find him driving his ‘70 Cuda or on a tractor ride. He also spent many years on the Mitchell County Fair Board, where he was able to socialize with anyone and everyone who wanted to talk. Bob is survived by his wife, Jane; children, Rob (Amber) Sherrard and Ross (Kristen) Sherrard; his six grandchildren, Aubrey, Brayli, Scarlett, Kallesen, Robert and Katelyn; sister, Sharon (Lynn) Schaub; brothers-in-law Ronnie (Roselyn) Beyer and Larry (Irene) Beyer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy and Robert Sherrard; and mother and father-in-law, Lois and Albert Beyer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Mitchell County Fair or the Lyle Area Cancer Telethon. The funeral service for Bob will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. The visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Schroeder-Hoff Funeral Home in St. Ansgar. Interment will be in St. Ansgar Cemetery. Schroeder-Hoff Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
