Audrey M. Schulz, age 87, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, Iowa. Audrey Mae Olson was born on February 7, 1937, in St. Ansgar to Palmer and Viola (Berg) Olson. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School. On February 8, 1954, Audrey married her high school sweetheart, Galen Schulz. The couple recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. They spent their entire lives in St. Ansgar where they raised their three children and were active in the community and the church. Audrey was the secretary at the St. Ansgar Elementary School for 28 years. She loved working with children and always greeted them with her smile and words of encouragement. Audrey had a special love of music; this was her connection with God. She was the organist at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar for over 50 years where she shared her love of music. Above all, Audrey was a devoted wife and mother. Family meant everything to her and always came first. Audrey and Galen’s greatest joy was spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on holidays and special occasions. We all love and will miss her until we see her again. Audrey is survived by her husband, Galen; children, Stephanie (Estes), Mark, and Tim (Jodie); 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn; and many loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer and Viola; granddaughter, Echo Rose Schulz; great-uncle, Ole Olson; and many cherished cats. Audrey’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Staley, Dr. Ross and staff, the staff at Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood, and the staff of St. Croix Hospice for all their love and care of Audrey. The memorial service for Audrey will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. The visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Schroeder-Hoff Funeral Home in St. Ansgar. Interment will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
