Carroll Laverne Winer

Carroll L. Winer passed away Monday, March 4, 2024, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday March 10, 2024, at St. Ansgar United Methodist Church with Pastor Bruce Wittern officiating. Inurnment will take place at Little Cedar Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Sunday March 10, 2024, at St. Ansgar United Methodist Church. Carroll LaVerne Winer was born November 28, 1934, to Sidney and Vera Winer in Mitchell County, Iowa. Carroll grew up in Mitchell County on a farm near Stacyville with his sister Melva and brother Larry. He graduated from Little Cedar School in 1952. Prior to his time in the service, Carroll realized he had already met the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. After two years in the service, Carroll went to the East Drive Inn where he met and dated Pauline Smith. After going with her for over a year, Carroll proposed. Carroll and Pauline were united in Marriage on October 10, 1957, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage, IA. This marriage was blessed with 3 children, John, Kimberly, and Brian. Carroll and Pauline moved to the farm 2 1/2 miles East of Little Cedar in 1958. He worked hard as a dairy farmer raising 25 cows and just as many cats. He also raised market beef, pigs, and chickens. Carroll retired from farming in 1990. Carroll and Pauline then moved to town, Osage, in 1992. Carroll continued to work at Randall Construction and at A to Z, Drying. Carroll and Pauline enjoyed traveling and their retirement years together and could often be seen holding hands. Carroll and Pauline enjoyed 66 years of marriage together. Carroll is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Hinz of Mason City; Grandchildren Brent (Lisa) Hinz of Charles City and Sabra (Ryan) Schipper of Aplington; Great Grandchildren Sydney, Harley, Sierra, Hunter, Hudson, Eli, Isaac, Oliver, Austin, Abby, and Aaron; Sister Melva LeBlanc of Mesa, AZ; Larry (Dortha) Winer of Waverly, IA. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline, and their two sons John and Brian and his parents Sidney and Vera Winer. Champion Funeral Home, Osage, Iowa, 641-732-3706,
