Marlys Marie Rogers

Marlys Marie Rogers, formerly of Osage, died on November 30, 2023 at Southeast Iowa Healthcare and Behavioral Center in Keokuk. A Funeral Mass will be held in late spring/early summer, with inurnment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Marlys was born on December 9, 1951, to Bernard and Zita (Volney) Rogers, and was raised with her brother Tom on a farm north of Osage. She graduated from Osage High School in 1970 and from Iowa State University in 1974. Soon after, Marlys moved to Boston where she worked as a historical archivist before returning to Iowa in the early 2000s. In recent years, Marlys enjoyed writing for her church newsletter and with a local writing club. Her expertise and flair was showcased in a memoir she wrote about her experiences growing up on an Iowa farm in the 1950s and 60s. Marlys was preceded in death by her parents, and special family friend, Ron Sorensen. She is survived by her brother, Tom Rogers of Stacyville.
