Jimmy Dean Bohannon, 59 passed away December 25, 2023 suddenly at his home in Osage, Iowa. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Jimmie Dean Bohannon was born on December 27, 1963 in Springfield, Missouri to Patrick Ray Bohannon, Sr. and Anna Belle (Hensley) Bohannon-Mitchell. He grew up on the windy roads and hills of southern Missouri and attended school in Gainesville, Missouri. On December 16th, 1986 Jimmy married Tracy Houdek at the Assembly of God in Charles City, Iowa. This union brought the birth of their daughter, Jessica, in 1988. Jimmy and Tracy later divorced in 2000. Jimmy was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He would boast about how he could live off grid and survive. Oftentimes he would be found out in the garage or shed tinkering around and drinking a beer. He enjoyed playing pool. Jimmy was a rebel without a cause who portrayed a hard outside but everyone he encountered knew he had a soft inside. He lived for today with tomorrow being another day. Everyone who met Jimmy grew to love him. He had a significant love for his family. He would always give the best bear hugs. Although he was disabled at a young age Jimmy worked numerous odd jobs from helping cut trees to helping farmers put in new fences and tend their livestock. He was always able to lend a helping hand. We will miss his personality, his unique words, and most of all his company and love. Jimmy is survived by his longtime girlfriend Julie Ackley of Osage, Iowa, daughters Megan (Vern) Drewelow of New Hampton, Iowa, and Jessica Bohannon of Osage, Iowa, grandchildren Alexis Herman of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Kaleb Herman of Mason City, Iowa, Julia Herman of Ionia, Iowa, Tyson Smolik, and Saylor McFarland of Osage, Iowa, sisters Linda (Bobby) Crow, Mary Ann Ross, and Laura (Jimmy) Cupples all of DeWitt, Arkansas, brothers Bill Bohannon of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and Lawrence (Heather) Bohannon of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and sister-in-law Edna (Mike) Bunn of Rockford, Iowa along with many nieces and nephews.
