Diann Fay (Low) Orpen, 85, passed away on January 6, 2024, in Northwood, Iowa. Diann was born on April 30, 1938 to Theodore (Ted) and Iola (Henderson) Low at their home in Osage, Iowa. She was the fourth of five children. Her brothers were Jim Demuth, Jack Demuth, Ted Low, and David Low. Diann graduated from Osage High School in 1956. She also attended Sioux Falls College and St. Paul Bible College for a short time. Friends introduced her to her future husband Orvis Orpen. They were married in 1968 at the Alliance Church in Osage by Paul Wood and Don Railey. They made their home in Northwood, Iowa. Before Diann married, she worked in Osage at Almquist Rexall Drug, Home Trust & Savings Bank, and Farm Service. She lived in Pueblo, Colorado for a time and worked at the First National Bank and St. Mary-Corwin Hospital. She was also employed with Midway National Bank in St. Paul, Minnesota. Diann was involved in many activities. She was on the Auxiliary Board at the Lutheran Retirement Home and on the board of the Kensett Museum. She was involved with potluck meals in Kensett, Church Circle, and the WELCA. Diann was survived by her brother David Low and his family - Dan (Ron) Low, Laurel (Spencer) Feldt and her children Gabe, Jack (Rachel), Morgan, and Kari (Andy) Burbach and their child and grandchildren Hailey (Dalton), Kaden, and Kashton. Other nieces and nephews are Deborah (Bob) Slusarczyk, Jackie (Jon) Jorgenson, Mickey (Mike) Stark, Steve Low, Terry Oliva, Tom Low, Pam (Hugh) Winfield, Clara Low, and Gary Low. She had numerous great, great and great, great, great nieces and nephews. Her Cousin Mike (Ann) Low and Special Friends Donna and Tom Martin, Jan and Sam Hernes, Sharron and David Petznick, Sharon and Lynn Schaub, Harriet and Bill Lewis, Joyce Reinenger, Vickie (Bill) Koehler, Marc (Colleen) Drury, Dennis (Deb) Orpen, and Lori Orpen. She was preceded in death by her parents Ted & Iola Low, her husband Orvis, brothers James (Billie) Demuth, Jack (Mary) Demuth, Ted (Anabele) Low, sister-in-law Judy Low, special friend Gene Sites, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alvin (Dilene) Orpen and Glennis (Betty) Orpen. A service will be held at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home in Northwood, Iowa on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00 pm with burial to follow at Elk Creek Cemetery in rural Kensett.
