Ronald Ausborne Parker

Ronald Ausborne Parker, 75, passed away October 27, 2023 following a battle with Cancer. His wife Diana was by his side. Ronald was born May 30, 1948 to Raymond and Doris (Rehberg) Parker. He was the oldest of seven children. Ronald attended Grinnell-Newburg where he participated in track, cross country, band and choir. After graduation from there he attended Iowa Wesleyan and Central Collage where he majored in education. Ron married Diana (McDonald) May 4, 1973 in Grinnell. They were blessed with two boys, Ryan of Kensett and Eric of Glenville, New York. Ron taught junior high math and science at Northwood-Kensett for 36 years. He also coached numerous sports as well as volunteered in others and drove bus to activities. After retiring from teaching, he continued driving bus, mowed at the Northwood golf course and filmed for the football and basketball teams. Ron was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir and preached when needed. Those left to cherish his memory are his: wife, Diana; two sons, Ryan and Eric (Jess); three grandchildren, Jordan, Chase and Shane; brother, Larry (Debra) Parker of Nevada; sisters, Deb (Brad) Hecker of Des Moines, Judy (Doug) Smith of Grinnell, Joyce (Paul) Cook of Solon, Marcia (Kendall) Thompson of Decorah and Pam (Bob) Ashing of Grinnell; many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda, in infancy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or the Kensett Lions Club. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett with Rev. Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood. Interment will be at a later date in Malcom, Iowa.
