December 18, 1938 — November 8, 2020

Northwood, IA – Arlynn (Mac) McHenry, 82, of Northwood, died of natural causes Sunday, November 8, 2020 at hospice in Mason City. Per Mac's wishes there will be no funeral or visitation, but a graveside service at the cemetery at a later date. Mac was born December 18, 1938 in Northwood, Iowa, the son of Leslie and Bertha McHenry. Mac graduated from Northwood High School in 1957. Mac enlisted into the Army in 1958. Mac married Ruth Rislov in November of 1961. They had two children, Sarah and Thomas. Mac was a loving and caring husband, and yes patient. A wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He was very active in community services. He was a member of the Northwood Jaycees and was in charge of the 4th of July parade for many years. Also he was a member of the Northwood Volunteer Fire Company, and an active member of the Eastern Star. He was also a realtor for Worth Realty in Northwood. As a member of the first Lutheran Church he was an usher and on council. Mac and Ruth enjoyed many vacations up to Grand Marais, MN. Left to cherish his memories are his: daughter, Sarah (Lane) Wacholz of New Richland, MN; son, Thomas (Shelly) McHenry of Buffalo, MN; Six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Thomas (Sarar) Wacholz and Layla, Tony Wacholz and fiancé Emily Goskenson, Adam (Whitney) Wacholz, Abby Wacholz, Lauren McHenry and fiancé Connor Whelan and Nicole McHenry; special friends John and JoAnne McCallum. Mac was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Thompson and Verna Mae Pixley, nephew Lewis Thompson and wife Ruthie. Since losing Ruthie Mac's life has felt very empty. His wish since mom died was to be reunited with her. Although we will all miss him a lot we find comfort in knowing they are together again. Memorials may be sent to Sarah Wacholz, 23808 St. Hwy 13, New Richland, MN 56072. Those wishing to give a memorial may consider the Northwood Fire and Rescue Department, or the South Shell Rock Cemetery.
