Gary Earl Kirchgatter

Gary Earl Kirchgatter, 80, of St. Ansgar, IA, passed away on March 22, 2023, at his home in St. Ansgar, IA. Gary was born on November 8, 1942, in Osage, IA. He was the first born to Earl and Louise (Greiner) Kirchgatter. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1960. Following high school Gary enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, 1960 to 1963. He was honorably discharged. Gary moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in the early 80’s. There he obtained his gaming license. He remained employed there until 2005 when he retired and moved back to St. Ansgar. Gary enjoyed the company of his friends Larry Hanson, Paul Peterson, favorite cousin Kayeann Nagel, and others. Gary is survived by his son, Todd (Sandy) Kirchgatter of Trego, WI; granddaughters Kaela and Karly Kirchgatter of Rosemount, MN; Kevin (Mary Lynn) Kirchgatter of St. Ansgar, IA; nephews John Kirchgatter of Fort Dodge, IA; Brian (Allison) Kirchgatter of Rogers, MN; Jason (Elizabeth) Kirchgatter of Ashland, NE; great nephews Ethan, Jaxon, Drew and great niece Ava. Gary was preceded in death by former spouse Donna (Priem) Kirchgatter; parents Earl and Louise; sister Shirley and brother Keith. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Any memorial donations can be sent to any local charity in Gary’s name.
