Merlyn Lee Ball, 85, of Stacyville IA, passed away unexpectedly in his home on December 8, 2022. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Saturday December 17, 2022 at 1:00p at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Merlyn was born on August 11, 1937 to Arno and Hazel Ball in a chicken coop in Osage IA. He grew up in Osage IA. He joined the military after high school and served from 1956-1959 in the Washington DC area. He lived in Aberdeen, SD for 16 years where he owned and operated Dry Cleaners for several years. After selling the cleaners Merlyn became a salesman. Through the years he sold business band radios, church directories, lollipops, Schwan’s food. Merlyn enjoyed a good game of chess, playing cards, and visiting with friends. Faith and family have always been important to Merlyn. He settled in Stacyville to be closer to family. He was grateful for the friends he had in the area. Grateful for sharing is his life are his children: Dianne (Lyle) Wegner of Redfield SD & Duane (Patricia) Ball of Montrose, SD, Karen Dyer MD; Grandchildren: Taylor (Stephanie) Wegner, Cole (Anne) Wegner, Carter Wegner, Sturgis Ball, Kiley Ball and Sawyer Ball, Malachi Lyncee; Niece & Nephews: Kevin (Lynn) Cockrum, Karla Cockrum and Keith (Lisa) Cockrum He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Donita (Clyde) Johnson, Lodema (Jim) Cockrum.
