Vernon M. Mayer

Vernie was born February 11, 1927, in Stacyville, the son of Ernest and Matilda Mayer. He was united in marriage to Imelda (Moe) Thome on August 6, 1947, and celebrated their 72nd anniversary in 2019. The couple had three children Linda, Joseph, and Douglas. Farming was his greatest love, and he still ran the combine at age 92. He will be remembered as just a farmer. He is survived by his children Linda Danzow, Joe (Ann) Mayer, Doug (Kathy) Mayer, grandchildren Rod Danzow, Mike (Jessica) Danzow, Jeff (Terri) Mayer, Kari (Kelby) Olson, David (Melissa) Mayer, Will (Marissa) Mayer, Andrea (Alex) Torresvalle, Tess (Jonathan Rogers) Mayer, 19 greatgrandchildren, sister Arlene Brown, sisters-in-law Janet Mayer, Lorena Panhoff and Mary Thome, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Emily & Wayne Gerlock. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Moe, infants Norman & Mary, grandson Calvin, brother Glen Mayer, brother and sister-in-law Gene & Marjorie Mayer, brothers-in-law Gene Brown, Ray Panhoff, Benedict Thome, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Ralph & Mildred Thome, Joe & Arlene Thome, Tony & Mary Young.
