Marcella Brandt

Marcella Brandt passed away comfortably on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville, Iowa, with friends at her side. She was 93 years old. Marcella was born October 1, 1928 to Orville and Mabel Brandt and was a spitfire from the beginning with a spunk that lasted her lifetime. She had no siblings and no children. She was preceded in death by her parents. She grew up and lived her entire life in the Toeterville and St. Ansgar area. She attended Toeterville school and then graduated from St. Ansgar High School. Marcella was always available to help a friend with babysitting, farming, chores and a willing volunteer in the community wherever she was needed. After the passing of her father, the farming was left to Marcella and her mother who took on the challenge with pride. While they farmed and raised cattle, Marcella was a great animal lover. Cats were Marcella’s passion. She was widely known as the “cat lady” and wore that title proudly. She always had a multitude of cats and cared for them as a mother would for her children. For much of her life Marcella attended St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville, Iowa.
