Northwood, IA - Gail L. Gordon, 82, of Kensett, died Sunday, October 25, 2020 at MercyOne North Iowa. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. On Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Kensett Cemetery, Kensett with Rev. Linda Johnson Prestholt officiating. Gail was born to Gaylord and Marie Gordon on March 24, 1938, in Danville Township, Worth County, Iowa. He attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Manly High School in 1955. Gail joined the National Guard in 1956 and was Honorably Discharged in 1959. He was then a member of the Army Reserve and was Honorably Discharged in 1964. On December 30, 1958 Gail married Sharon Link in the First Covenant Church, Mason City, Iowa. To this union 5 children were born. His children are: Laurene (Neil) Kruger of Grafton; Gaye Gordon Rendon (deceased); Holly Lewis (Don Stabenow) of Urbandale; Jared (Jessica) Gordon of Albert Lea, Minnesota; Nicholas (Angie Hain) Gordon of Osage. His grandchildren are: Travis (Larisa) Kruger of Madison, WI and Shea (Michael) Jorgensen of Iowa City; Lexi, Laina and Luke Lewis of Urbandale; Sophia, Grant and Ethan Gordon of Albert Lea; and Chance Gordon of Osage. His step-grandsons: Justin Hain of Colorado and Jordan Hain of Kensett. His great-grandchildren are: Evelyn and Margaret Kruger of Madison, WI and Finn Jorgensen of Iowa City. Farming was Gail's life work. He was determined to keep going until the work was done. He very much enjoyed talking to friends and relatives. He was a life-long member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Kensett Lions Club. He served on church council and had been a Sunday School teacher. He is survived by his: wife, Sharon; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion (Ronald) Helgeson and Joyce (John Helgren) Diedrich; sister-in-law, Karen Gordon; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his: parents; daughter, Gaye; brother, Donald; sister-in-law, Ellen Blackbourn; and brother-in-law, Duane Link.
