Richard Lee Dean

April 13, 1933 — January 15, 2022

Richard Lee Dean, age 88, of Osage, Iowa died Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Western Homes- Windhaven Assisted Living in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with Pastor Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with Military Honors by Osage American Legion Post 278 and V.F.W. Post 7920. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to 11am Saturday prior to the funeral service. Dick was born April 13, 1933, in Osage, the son of Joseph and Leona (Miller) Dean. He graduated from Osage High School in 1951. Dick married MaryLou Klemesrud on November 2, 1952 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Osage. He was stationed in Germany and was a Veteran in the U.S. Army. Dick worked 45 years in Auto Body Repair starting as a Junior in High School at Ahren's Body Shop. He was a proud co-owner of Dick and Dale's Body Shop. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion and V.F.W. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, fishing, hunting and driving his modified golf-cart, motorcycles, cars, boats and snowmobiles. Regardless of what he drove, it was always FAST, which apparently, he passed down to his three daughters. Our Dad loved life. His family meant the world to him. He would do anything he could for his family. When Dick semi-retired he assisted Lou with the First Citizens Bank Heritage Club and enjoyed day trips, educational experiences and travel opportunities, espicially Switzerland and Alaska. Dick enjoyed traveling with Lou across the U.S. working for Theobold's and spending the cold Iowa winter's in warmth in McAllen, Texas. When growing up our Dad was always remodeling our home and was a perfectionist at everything he did. When he retired he spent the majority of his time in his wood working shop creating projects for his family. We will always treasure the "rides" along the Cedar River Road, icecream treats at the A&W, Stan's Drive Inn and all his stories. He was always the best storyteller! We never quite knew what was fact or fiction, but he didn't forget anything. His memory was something we could only hope for. His honorable love for everyone and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Dick is survived by his wife, MaryLou; three daughters, Julie (Larry) Clark of Waterloo, Lori (Mike) Nikolas of Blue Springs, Missouri and Sheri Dean (partner Cynthia Evans) of Rockford, Illinois. Six grandchildren; Jason (Katrina) Hemann, Justin (Jennifer) Hemann, Dana (Chad) White, Micaela (Thomas) Myres, Brian (Sarah) Clark, Jennifer (Chris) Hauser and fourteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Lois Haugen and Bernice Hartwig. Champion Funeral Home, 641-732-3706
