Joann Civarelli White

JoAnn Civarelli White passed away on August 6, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Ansgar. JoAnn was born on December 12, 1929 in Clarksville, Iowa by a midwife. She grew up in Manly and met her husband Arthur White in 1946 and they were married on June 22, 1947. They raised their three children Danny, Bruce, and JoDee in the small community of Grafton. JoAnn was known for her many talents. She loved animals of all kinds. She was midwife to pigs and raised them for many years. She loved going to garage sales and thrift stores. That was a happy place for her. And most of all her flowers. It was her passion and she shared her bounty with all those around her. She spent so many hours out in her flower bed weeding and keeping everything looking nice. Art and JoAnn spent 47 winters in Arizona and while all the other yards in their retirement park had lava rock, hers was a beautiful paradise of roses and all flowers exotic. Passerby would often stop and request a tour and she was no different. It was as they say "another happy place". Another one of her talents was baking. She is credited with blessing many with her beautiful wedding cakes. And let us not forget her "Easter hats". The members of the Bolan Church looked forward to seeing what she would come up with each year. And she never disappointed. Most of her life was spent raising her children and being a farm wife. She did take a job at the Sugar Beet factory in Mason City for a short time. She also worked at Carrol George and Mode O day. She was a very active member of the Bolan Church. She was preceded in death by her: parents, Martha and Vito Ciavarelli; brothers, Joe, Vergene, Tony, Errol, Dennis; half sister, Carmen and Patsy. Left to honor her memory are her: husband, Art; son, Danny and wife JoLynn; daughter, JoDee Shadrick and husband Ralph; son, Bruce; grandchildren, Heather White and Laurie White; sister, Cheryl and husband Larry; and sister, Charlotte.
