Jane Marie Norby

Jane Marie Norby, age 85, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Osage, Iowa, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Aksarben Village Senior Living in Omaha. Jane was born December 26, 1939, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of Vincent and Helen (Larson) Hendrickson. On June 23, 1973, she married Dean Norby at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Before her marriage, Jane served as a key punch operator in Albert Lea. Jane farmed with her husband southwest of Osage and was a member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where she was active in Hannah Circle and Ladies’ Aid. She enjoyed reading, bowling, following the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings, spending time with family and friends, and her pets.

Jane is survived by her children; Karen (Micah) Fannin of Omaha, Nebraska, and Joel Norby of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren, Violet and Zeb Fannin of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Terry (Loren) Nielsen of Stewartville, Minnesota; brother, Richard (Jeanette) Hendrickson of Gilbert, Arizona; sister-in-law, Marlys Smith of Memphis, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Francis Jacobs of Osage, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; brother, Jay Hendrickson; sisters, Barbara Fraley, Phyllis Bulson, and Lynda Jenkins; brothers-in-law, Marvin Norby, Will Smith, Mike Jenkins, and Merle Bulson; and sisters-in-law Edna Norby and Joan Jacobs.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, Iowa, with Pastor Joel Nye officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Meadowlark memory care unit at Aksarben Retirement Senior Living in Omaha and the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage for their care for Jane.
